Bialowieza Forest Border Fence Impacting Wildlife

In July 2022, Poland erected a 116-mile long, 18-foot high fence along its border with Belarus. It was constructed to staunch the flow of migrants - mostly from the Middle East and the Horn of Africa - which Lukashenko his been sending into Poland as part of a "hybrid" warfare campaign in alignment with Russia. Apparently, and perhaps not surprisingly, the fence's impact on animals and biodiversity in the Bialowieza Forest has been negative. More animals are dying and more avoid the borer.
